For the past week, I’ve had trouble deciding what I wanted to write about. I’ve been doing a lot of creative stuff, while in the process of gearing up for the next season of my podcast (Check it out!).

This is what led me to writing about digital creators. Specifically, I wanted to highlight one in particular…Mcflyy. I’ve been a big fan of his for years. He combines anime, hip hop, pop culture, and more into his digital art. He’s super dope, but I’m not writing about him.

I was going to write about him until I saw this picture

What happened to Delano Brown??

This picture instantly brought back memories from 2013/14ish, when Delano Brown was the hottest Painter/Collab artist on the come up.

Everybody wanted his work.

He had celebrity cosigns from Young Thug to Fabolous.

He was putting on art shows and packed-out celebrity events everywhere.

To make it plain and simple, Virgil Abloh is the Collab designer many thought Delano would eventually be. That was not the case, so I did some digging.

Let’s say…I see why he fell off.

His fans hate him and for good reason.

Delano Brown is a well-known scammer in online art circles now. Apparently, his online store received many payments without delivering an actual product. Many felt like the demand was too much to handle at the time, but greed kept him from stopping.

It’s honestly sad. His talent was special. Customizing shoes, clothes, and whatever else is nothing new. Delano did something unique. He didn’t come up with many different designs. For the most part, just One defined his brand. A simple yet passionate flower. It defined his whole brand, and had the potential to be truly iconic.

That flower had the power to take him places (BARS).

He would have killed it, when NFTs first dropped. In today’s economy, there’s no telling how much he would have made with a little more patience, and whole lot less greed.
